This step can be done for both the front and back strap of the canoe one for each roof rack bar.

To tie down a kayak place it right side up on your roof rack and center it. Attach the s hook to a secure point on your vehicle. Then slide each strap so that the buckle lays against the hull of the kayak. On the driver s side of the vehicle wrap the strap around your roof rack bars and send the non buckle side of the cam strap back overtop to the passenger side again.

Thread the strap through the s hook tie a secure knot then run the strap through the attachment point on the front of your canoe.
